Felix’s older brother, who was suffering from TB of the spine, was learning how to walk again when I was working as a physical therapist at Kisumu Local District Hospital in 2003. I was teaching Felix how to assist his brother so he could practice at home. Felix was 21 and had a strong desire to go to Secondary School. He was a total orphan (both parents dead) and was doing small jobs to try to help raise his two sisters and three younger brothers.
Felix asked me if FIOH-USA could sponsor him for Secondary School. We found a sponsor and through hard work and determination he completed high school and college for accounting. He is now giving back by serving on the board of FIOH-Kenya. His three younger brothers, Reagan, Colin and Edwin have completed college through FIOH-USA sponsorship. FIOH-USA has also sponsored them all for auto and truck driving, giving them additional opportunities for employment.
