What does it mean to be a Donation Amplifier?

Being a Donation Amplifier means you commit to giving any amount of your choice once we successfully reach our fundraising goal of $5,000 on Giving Tuesday.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a worldwide day of generosity, occurring annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (November 28). It’s a global movement encouraging people to give back, supporting charitable causes through donations and volunteer efforts.

How much am I expected to give as a Donation Amplifier?

There is no set expectation. You can choose any amount that you are comfortable with, whether it’s $100, $500, $1,000, or more. No amount is too big or too small. Remember 100% of whatever you give will go directly to support the men, women and children of Kenya and Zambia.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation amount?

No, there is no set minimum or maximum. Every contribution, regardless of size, is highly appreciated.

As a Donation Amplifier, do I Receive Anything in Return?

Absolutely! In appreciation for becoming a Donation Amplifier, you will receive a thank you letter from the men, women, and children of Kenya and Zambia. In addition, you will be invited to a VIP virtual coffee chat with our board president to connect, ask questions, and gain insights into the impact of your contributions.

When will I need to fulfill my donation commitment?

You will be asked to fulfill your commitment once the overall fundraising goal of $5,000 is achieved. We will reach out the week after Giving Tuesday (the first week of December).

How can I sign up as a Donation Amplifier?

Can I change my pledged donation amount later?

Yes, you can make adjustments if needed. Just reach out to us at [email protected], and we’ll assist you with any changes.

Why are the Donation Amplifier spots limited?

To maintain a balance and avoid impacting our core donations on Giving Tuesday, we have limited the number of Donation Amplifier spots available.

Is my commitment binding?

While we appreciate your commitment, we understand that circumstances may change. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if adjustments are necessary.

What projects will my donation support?

So glad you asked! FIOH-USA never recommends projects–all the projects we support are directly proposed by the men and women who need help in Kenya and Zambia. Almost all of them become self-sustaining. Scroll down for a full list of $15,000+ unfulfilled projects. Your donation will directly support crucial projects in Kenya and Zambia.

How will I be updated on the progress of the fundraising goal?

We will keep you informed through regular updates via email on Giving Tuesday (which is November 28) and in the days after.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, your donation is tax-deductible. We will provide the necessary information for your records.

Can I share this opportunity with friends and family?

Absolutely! We encourage you to spread the word and share this unique opportunity with your friends and family. The more, the merrier! Tell them to visit futureinourhandsusa.org/amplifier

How will my donation be used?

Here are a list of projects that currently need our support

FIOH-K in Kisumu, Kenya

1. Stop the Hunger Garden Project
In Usoma Village, the Sunshine Woman’s Group plans to clear a 5-acre piece of land, fence it, and plant fruits and vegetables at a cost of $3,000. The produce will be sold at a low price to combat malnutrition, with the project aiming for self-sustainability through proceeds.

2. New Sr. Linda Glaeser Center
FIOH-K has been supporting a new office near the Obunga slum in Kisumu since late 2021. The center already serves the community, but additional support is needed for tables, chairs, and a computer. Cost is $3,000.

3. Extend Stop the Spot to Other Schools
Our successful “Stop the Spot” program has been providing sanitary supplies to young girls for years with the aim of reducing school absenteeism and increasing graduation rates for girls. The community has asked if we can expand to more schools. Each school extension would cost approximately $500 quarterly, and immediate funding is crucial due to the pressing need.

FIOH-AAK Angelic Arc in Kissi, Kenya
Started by Linet Alna, Angelic Ark is an orphanage that houses HIV-impacted children.

4. Greenhouse and Black Soldier Farming
Inspired by an agricultural symposium in Tanzania, Linet aims to install a greenhouse and establish black soldier fly farming. The farming will support waste recycling, provide animal feed, produce fertilizer and reduce environmental impact overall. The budget for this self-sustaining project is $2,000.

5. Angelic Arc Orphanage Wall Project
Seeking to secure the orphanage, FIOH-AKK is raising $5,310 to construct a lasting perimeter wall. $2,830 has been provided this year, with an additional $2,480 needed to complete the project. This will secure the home and keep the children and projects safe.

FIOH-Z in Choma, Zambia

6. Future Steps Business Center Support
FIOH-Z aims to support the Future Steps Business Center in Choma. This store has been providing vital computer training, internet access, and business supplies since 2018 with we provided $4,500 in funding. Ongoing support is sought until the center becomes self-sustaining, with assistance based on need and sent quarterly.

7. Youth Goat Project Well
After FIOH-USA funded the local youth group’s goat-raising project in 2018, which is now self-sustaining, they seek $3,500 to dig a well on the farm. The well will provide vital clean water for drinking, washing and agriculture for all in the area.
These are programs that could start immediately if funds are available. There is a great need.
