We Provide The Funds, They Provide The Inspiration
FIOH-USA provides seed money to start self-sustaining programs and projects that the community has identified as a need to improve the quality of life for their region. Proposals are always generated by our African partners and FIOH-USA is able to fund their requests because of your generous donations. Here are a few examples of our projects:
Micro Loans
FIOH-USA provides funds to local groups who administer micro loans for people who need capital to start or enlarge income-generating activities in their locality. We have seen incredible success rates with these businesses and are proud to have helped dozens of people elevate their communities and provide for their families. Some examples of these programs include:
Tailoring: Purchase manual, foot pedal-powered sewing machines, scissors, tape measures, needles, thread and fabric for a Tailoring School run by women's groups which make and sell school uniforms and other clothing.
Pharmacies: Supply medication for rural areas that lack access to medical treatment
Chair Rental: A business which rents chairs for funerals and other events
Kiosks: Sell produce or other commodities at a market or a village stand
Top Ten Business Center (Chauma, Zambia)
Administrative services, basic computer skills and availability of stationary supplies are taken for granted in many developed countries. In Macha Road Compound, a small community of 5,000 people outside of Choma, these services are hard to access. FIOH-USA provides startup funds for this store where youths are able to receive training in basic computer skills at an affordable cost, administrative services such as printing, photocopying and typing, along with the sale of stationery supplies. Access to these services provides the means for securing and maintaining a sustainable livelihood and enhances their future.
Emergency Support
During challenging times,FIOH-USA receives proposals from our African partners with requests for support to relieve the extreme stress caused by famine, floods, the pandemic and political upheavals. With your donations, FIOH-USA is able to respond to these emergencies while maintaining our mission of creating sustainability within the communities we serve.
Angelic Ark Orphanage and Community Center
Angelic Ark Centre is a home for HIV+ or HIV impacted children. FIOH-USA has funded the center for many years providing a safe place for the children to live. Because of your donations, FIOH-USA has expanded the facility to include a resource center, a library, a tailoring shop, a chicken hatchery and an extensive garden. These are valuable resources to the community providing a chance for a better life.
